Florence + The Machine - Lungs
European musicians sure do a great job at refreshing the renowned. Although i find some tracks in this record quite scary, it still stands memorable tunes, catchy enough for you folks who are desperately seeking for easy-listening music, but odd enough for the curious to pay a visit.
The Fray - How To Save A Life
I know, i know, you don't need to start on how come i listen to it NOW when it was released in wayyyy back 2005. It was because of Louis Tomlinson i have to shamefully admit. But it's a decent record for the very few who haven't checked it out.
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours
Another shameful confession: Glee brought me to listening to this record. But if you're not one of those judgemental people ( although i do think i deserve a judgement ) and don't care about how i found out about this, cheers, i love you whoever you are. I didn't expect myself to like this record this much honestly, but it draws a perfect escape to the world of mid-70s alternative. Glee or no Glee, this is one to check out.
The Beatles - Beatles For Sale
As much as i'm obsessed with The Beatles and their whole band story ( yes i even just downloaded the movie Nowhere Boy, partly because there was a John Lennon and a Paul McCartney, partly because freaking Aaron Johnson and Thomas Brodie-Sangster never looked that good ), i need time to absorb their music completely. Beatles For Sale is one of those records where you can play in the bus, or randomly around the house when you're too tired of homework. Probably not their best record, but maybe the lack of stories inside each song frees the minds of the maniacs a bit.
Foster The People - Torches
One very sad point about this record is that it's made mainstream and "Pumped Up Kicks" has been playing nonstop on TV. And suddenly everyone listens to indie. People on my facebook kept posting the video every five minutes, and out of nowhere seven million of other facebookers jumped in and liked it and commented nonsense like 'oh this band has another song that sounds catchy thats Call It What You Want' and stuff.
Nevertheless, well, congratulations on an indie band that's finally recognized, and the world won't be drowned in meaningless rap songs or hit singles with only 20-listenable-seconds-of-lyrics. The record has a mix of the early Franz Ferdinand, a little bit of One Night Only, a tad bit of radio material, different enough to hang-on-frigging-iTunes-for-two-thousand-frigging-weeks. One of the very few records that dates 2011 in my list.
The Beach Boys - Pet Sound
Now you don't need to shove at my face on how come, again, i haven't listened to this record earlier in life. But, again, it's not about how i found out about it. I fell madly in love with each of the songs, felt like i couldn't be a bad person when i listened to it ( although reality has had its way to prove otherwise ). Don't need to review this, cause the record itself is awesome enough. And i remember a highly-rated comment on youtube under the song Wouldn't It Be Nice: "If Beatles & Beach Boys had kids, he'd be called God".
Ed Sheeran - +
One of my ultimate favorites from late-September-early-October and another one that's released in 2011. This is one of those records that questions you on what motivation that pushed you into listening to it, and you secretly thank that motivation a million times. Chloe Moretz tweeted a link to the acoustic version of Small Bump a while ago, a song with the most powerful lyrics that could bring anyone to tears. A standard record in my view. This is a must in your playlist.
The Kooks - Inside In/Inside Out
My indie spirit has gone quite dully this year, i couldn't find just awesome indie artists like i used to before, and i only found out about these guys about two or three weeks ago. Typical indie rock kids, decent album, better than i expected. Only one thing that bugged me about this record: WHY ARE THEIR SONGS SO SHORT IN LENGTH? Two minutes is barely enough for a good song!
Mumford & Sons - Sigh No More
I discovered this record in January 2011, not very much a discovery since their single Winter Winds was practically everywhere and this album was winding up and down on iTunes for a really long time after their Grammy nomination. I'm still very gutted that they didn't win the Grammy ( and i don't understand how the justin fucking bieber fans could actually hope that the douche would win a Grammy when he was nominated along with awesomeness under the name of Mumford & Sons ), but i'm sure Esperanza Spalding must be one hell of an artist to take the award away from these guys.
Oh how do i even begin to describe my obsession for this record? Winter Winds, i must admit, was only appealing enough for me to look up the name, i didn't even plan on listening to it again. It took me some time to give this record a serious amount of attention, then afterwards, i played it in a month straight i think. Every track has its edge, unique ways of contributing instruments, considerate lyrics and of course, an amazing vocal, the utmost important factor in one great record. I was thinking of writing a serious track-by-track review for this album a long time ago, but somehow now it's squeezed into a compilation music post. But, again, good music needs no word support.
Last but certainly not least, Frank Sinatra - Nothing But The Best
Another record that shows how much of a latecomer i am. I'd been listening to Buble and admiring the jazzy sound in his voice, but that was before i gave Sinatra a shot. Absolutely heartwarming voice that brings out a romantic and cozy mood right at the moment you play any of his songs. A great choice to tune in after a long day of pointless working.

Actually i've listened to a lot more than these few, but only made it through half of the records, so i felt disobliged to even review. Nevertheless so far this year hasn't been one rocking year in music finding for me. Hope you enjoyed this post. Haven't posted a complete one in such a long time!
